Beyond Zero Emissions

About us

Our group

Beyond Zero Emissions Inc. is a not-for-profit, volunteer run campaign.

Our core goal is to facilitate the implementation of the social changes and technologies that will reduce the impacts of climate change and give our society, and today’s global ecosystems, a chance of surviving into the future.

We are involved in the following activities:

  • education
  • advocacy
  • corporate campaigning
  • political campaigning
  • network building
  • community campaign building
  • research
  • solution development

We differ from mainstream environmental groups by one very important point - we believe that we have already allowed climate change to go too far, and must act immediately to reduce our levels of greenhouse gas emissions to zero and below.

The Zero Emissions goal

Today's atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases are already resulting in a global climate disaster (200,000 dead per year, increasing storms, rising temperatures and sea levels, etc).

If we allow greenhouse gas levels to increase we will see more fires, more storms, more extinctions and more death as a result of global warming and a changing climate.

This leaves us with one simple choice.

We must reduce our levels of atmospheric greenhouse emissions and we must do it now.

Beyond Zero Emissions was created to help achieve this goal.

How our goal differs

Other major environment groups whose goals differ to Beyond Zero Emissions will see atmospheric greenhouse gases continue to rise and consequently cause more devastation from global warming.

It is for this reason that Adrian Whitehead, the coordinator of the Beyond Zero Emissions campaign, left his paid climate campaigning position in Canberra to return to Melbourne to set up the Beyond Zero Emissions campaign. Adrian is now focusing on developing the Zero Emission Network, of which Beyond Zero Emissions is a member.
